These days, Asian online merchants appear to hire career spammers to launch an aggressive ad campaign to sell bags, shoes and other name-brand products, targeting CNET visitors. Oh, wait… Isn’t VersionTracker part of CNET group, too? That’s right. VersionTracker, a popular Mac-related website, has also been part of CNET group since August, 2007. So it is possible that you may see the same kind of spam ads at VersionTracker, right? At least, that’s what Screenshots 01 and 02 show.

Source: VersionTracker

Source: VersionTracker

Just an hour ago, when I was reading a review on Amadeus Pro, I noticed an odd comment. Taking a closer look at it, it’s a spam ad for www.shoespurchasing.com. In fact, the home of this online merchant is traced to a Malaysian network company called Piradius. Anyway, it’s kind of disappointing to know that VersionTracker either isn’t aware of these spam comments or doesn’t care about them. It looks like those spam ad comments have been sitting there since April 18th.
