Before I answer that question, let me ask you this question, first. Do you ever wish that you could restore the position and the size of an application window? That’d be quite difficult to achieve if the application is sandboxed. And that’s Grabbo’s main feature. Grabbo lets you save the properties of a window you select. And you can apply saved properties to the topmost window owned by the same application. Additionally, you can save a screenshot of the window you select to your disk with or without a shadow around it.

Available at Mac App Store

Features

Save window properties. This file must be manually installed in the Application Scripts folder that the application can access. See Pages 5 & 6 of Quick Tour for more information.

A window screenshot will be saved to the disk with resolutions of 72 dpi x 72 dpi for non-retina screen models (144 dpi x 144 dpi for retina screen models with JPEG, PNG, TIFF).

The application does not keep track of windowless applications, windows that are minimized.

Not all applications allow this application to set the bounds of the topmost window. It’s not Grabbo that makes the decision as to whether or not an application is scriptable. In order to see if an application is ready to receive a command from this application, open AppleScript Editor and choose Open Dictionary under File to see if that application is selectable. If not, that application is not scriptable.

Version history

1.0.2 (Released on May 13, 2015)

The application saved a window image to user’s disk twice smaller than it’s supposed to for the Retina display.

Change: The compression rate slider is removed from the save-file dialog box.
