Surprisingly, DivX3 had the second place.  <!--more--><br \/>\n<br \/><\/br><br \/>\n<br \/><\/br><\/p>\n<li> Xvid &#8230; 125 movies (85.6%)<\/li>\n<li> DivX3 &#8230; 11 movies (7.53%)<\/li>\n<li> DivX5 &#8230; 8 movies (5.48%)<\/li>\n<li> DivX4 &#8230; 1 movie (0.68%)<\/li>\n<li> 3ivx &#8230; 1 movie (0.68%)<\/li>\n<p><\/br><br \/>\n<br \/><\/br><br \/>\nWhat was more surprisingly is that none of the movies in the sample was compressed with DivX 6, which was first introduced in June, 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Christoph N\u00c3\u00a4geli of Switzerland, Mac users have been able to use the most popular MPEG-4-based video codec.  This &#8216;Xvid QuickTime Component&#8217; is not a standalone application.  Rather it&#8217;s a script that can be run by QuickTime Pro or other equivalent programs.  There currently exist both PPC version and Intel-Mac version of Xvid component separately.<\/p>\n<p>In this VTC, we use an MPEG-2 video file to explain some of the features that are available in &#8216;Xvid QuickTime Component.&#8217;  Some of those features include <\/p>\n<p>key interval, 2-pass encoding, HQ Search, B-Frames, Q Pel, GMC, Trellis, Optimize Chroma, H.263 Quantizer and MPEG Quantizer.<br \/>\n<br \/><\/br><br \/>\n<br \/><\/br><\/p>\n<li> This VTC version: 1.0<\/li>\n<li> We use the PowerPC version of Xvid QuickTime Component along with MPEG Streamclip.
