In the fifth video tutorial of the series, we export this project, instead of publishing it directly to our remote server. That’s partly because we want to modify some files before publishing the final version of our website.

In the fifth video tutorial of the series, we first export the RapidWeaver project file. We then use Adobe Dreamweaver 8 to modify some files. It doesn’t have to be Adobe Dreamweaver, and you can use any HTML editor. We then upload website files to our remote server.

By the way, to which permission should we set our website subdirectories? We have seen some posts in which people suggest that subdirectory permissions be set to 755. It’s a scaring thought that some web host companies tell you to set folder permissions to 755. In fact, our web hosting company advised us to change permissions a few weeks ago. We will tell you why that’s a terribly bad idea.

The sample website we built throughout the video tutorials can be seen at rw.mhvt.net.

Key words: Export Site

RapidWeaver version: 3.6.0

Adobe Dreamweaver version: 8.0.2

VTC version: 1.0

Length: 8 minutes 37 seconds

Video format: QuickTime

Video compression: H.264

Pixel size: 900 x 675

Audio effects: Enabled

Audio commentary: Enabled

Please read Terms of Use for Guests before watching any of the video tutorials.

RapidWeaver 3.6 is a product of Realmac Software.

Building a Blog Website with RapidWeaver 05: Publishing a Website After making a few adjustments, we have completed the project file that we started working on in the last tutorial.
