\nLast week, I brought some doughnuts to my office. It was late afternoon, and some guys were very hungry. When one of them shouted “Doughnuts!”, everybody in the office rushed towards me and picked one. And one of them must have got two. That’s when my secretary came back from a restroom. And when she found out that there was no more doughnut left for her, she gave me a look. That look…, which scared the hell out of me. I couldn’t do my work because that look haunted me. So I launched Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. In a matter of 5 minutes or so, I designed a chocolate doughnut for her.<\/p>\n

The following tutorial shows steps to design a chocolate doughnut. Although I mainly used Adobe Photoshop CS2, I used Adobe Illustrator CS2 to create a path and then a 3D image.

<\/br><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Under Adobe Illustrator, draw a circle with Ellipse Tool<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Apply 3D<\/strong> > Revolve<\/strong> to the shape. Make sure the offset value is greater than 0, which is necessary to create a hole at the center of the 3D shape.<\/li>\n
  3. Import the doughnut image to Photoshop. Paste the image in Pixels<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Create a new layer. After making a selection in Quick Mask<\/strong>, fill the selection with a chocolate color.<\/li>\n
  5. Under the Layer Palette, add a layer style on the chocolate layer. Enable Bevel and Emboss<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. Under Bevel and Emboss, enable Texture<\/strong>. Choose a pattern and adjust Scale<\/strong> and Depth<\/strong> to control amount of shade.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
