\nMy wife’s dog scratches a particular door when he gets excited. So my wife and I went to Homer Depot to buy a new interior door several days ago. For me, something wasn’t right. I didn’t scratch the door. And it’s her dog. So why do I have to pay for it? I went crazy when I saw those outrageous prices. One interior door for 300 bucks? I told her that I was not going to pay $300 for the damage her dog made. Then I saw her angry face with hot steam around it. Maybe, I should have said it more nicely. We didn’t talk to each other for the next two days. Finally, I got an idea. I thought I could just design an interior door for myself. But how? Ahh, Adobe Photoshop! So I got on my iMac and launched Adobe Photoshop CS2. In less than 7 minutes, I designed a simple interior door. Then I just told her that I came back from Homer Depot with this door. And she gave me a big hug. That night…, you know?<\/p>\n

The following tutorial shows steps to design a simple interior door with Adobe Photoshop CS2.

    \n
  1. First, using Rectangular Marquee Tool<\/strong>, let’s make a selection. Then fill the selection with sheer black.<\/li>\n
  2. Let’s add some noise. So choose Noise<\/strong> > Add Noise<\/strong> under Filter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. We want some gray pixels. So we use Blur<\/strong> > Motion Blur<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. The top and bottom parts are not completely blurred. So we want to crop the blurred area. Choose Crop<\/strong> under Image<\/strong> after making a selection.<\/li>\n
  5. You probably know what to do next. We want to colorize the remaining selection. Choose Adjustments<\/strong> > Hue\/Saturation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. We want to duplicate this layer twice. Use Free Transform (Command + T)<\/strong> to scale down the second copy. Then apply a layer style and turn on Bevel and Emboss<\/strong> and Contour<\/strong>. Choose a map you want.<\/li>\n
  7. Next, let’s work on the third copy. Scale it down and make a duplicate copy. Finally, select both layers and choose Merge Layers<\/strong> under the Layer Palette. (See the 7th screenshot.)<\/li>\n
  8. Then add a layer style and, again, turn on Bevel and Emboss<\/strong> and Contour<\/strong>. Choose a map you want.<\/li>\n
  9. Put all the layers in one Group<\/strong> and make a duplicate.<\/li>\n
  10. Drag either layer to the bottom and merge the layers into one. (See the 10th screenshot.)<\/li>\n
  11. Between two layers, let’s apply a small amount of Motion Blur.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
