\nOur clients aren’t all humans. Occasionally, we get a design job from a space alien or even from an insect. For example, when I answered the door the other day, it was a spider. He showed me a photo and asked me to create a spider web so that he could impress his female counterpart. Anyway, I took a job with no reward because I was bored. So, as usual, I launched Adobe Photoshop on my iMac. And, in a matter of 6 minutes or so, I created a spider web for him.<\/p>\n

The following tutorial shows steps to design a spider web, using Adobe Photoshop CS2. The photo image used in this tutorial comes from Webshots<\/a>.

<\/br><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. First, create a new layer in the Layer Palette<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Make a selection with Rectangular Marquee <\/strong> and then fill it with sheer black.<\/li>\n
  3. Apply to the selection Texture<\/strong> > Stained Glass<\/strong>. Set Cell Size<\/strong> to the maximum and Light Intensity<\/strong> to about 6.<\/li>\n
  4. Next, apply to the selection Brush Strokes<\/strong> > Ink Outlines<\/strong>. Set Light Intensity<\/strong> to 0 or 1.<\/li>\n
  5. Remove the unnecessary, outer area with Magic Wand Tool<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. Draw lines originating from the center with Brush Tool<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  7. Apply to the web Distort<\/strong> > Ripple<\/strong> for some distortion.<\/li>\n
  8. Switch the blend mode to Linear Dodge<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  9. Finally, you probably want to use Burn Tool<\/strong> for some make-up.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
