In fact, we always wanted to have a motion effects application like this one that would allow us to create a introduction scene of National Geographic without third-party plug-ins. So we used Boris RED this time to create introduction scenes, hoping to make them look like that of National Geographic.

Again, Boris RED is a very powerful motion effects application when you deal with objects in the 3D space. But, compared with Adobe After Effects and Apple’s Final Cut Pro, creating key frames is a little bit difficult and confusing.

And the toughest part of using Boris RED is exporting a project for us, so far. I spent the last several hours just to try to figure out how to export a project in QuickTime. But whatever I did, I got an error message. I wasted 6 to 7 hours just to export the same project file. On the other hand, if a project is very simple with the same export settings, I didn’t have trouble exporting it. The following is a list of our findings in exporting (non-simple) projects in Boris RED 4.1 (Mac).

Boris RED may not export a project with an audio file containing 3 or more channels.

If you have multiple volumes, export a movie to a volume containing the system and Boris RED folder.

For some reason, Boris RED may not export a project without a still image or video clip.

Again, if a project is very simple, you can ignore the suggestions above.

Click on the button to watch the sample movie.
Click on the button to watch the sample movie.

Click on the button to download the project package (.zip, size: 4.6 MB).

Boris RED is a product of Boris FX.

When you want to deal with objects in the 3D space, Boris RED can be as powerful as Adobe After Effects.
