Meanwhile, there is one topic posted at Apple Discussions that has been viewed 1,200 times or more. (See Screenshot 01.) It’s posted under the categories of MacBook > Using your MacBook, but this post concerns the EA game. The topic was initially posted in September 8, one sharing his or her difficulty in playing SPORE with MacBook that runs OS X 10.5.4. (See Screenshot 02.) Another user says that he or she encountered an error while the game shifts from Civilization Stage (4th stage) to Space Stage (5th stage).
The causes of game errors are yet to be determined. TransGaming’s founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Gavriel State wrote about 2 days ago
We (TransGaming) and EA are indeed listening and looking into these issues. The console log messages are not related to the problem.
Furthermore, one user posts
err:module:BUILTIN32_dlopen failed to load .so lib for builtin nvapi.dll
nvapi.dll is a dynamic link library designed by NVIDIA. Since SPORE’s application package does not contain nvapi.dll, if this insertion were the only error, the problem could be resolved for NVIDIA video card users by opening the package, navigating to Resources > transgaming > c_drive > windows > system32 and dropping the file. (Click here to download the file. Be advised to do it at your own risk. The file has been virus-scanned with Norton AntiVirus for Mac v. 11.) However, the problem is not that simple with more errors. In fact, we are not certain if Mac models equipped with ATI video cards also encounter similar errors. Fortunately, our iMac Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz, which is equipped with ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro has not encountered any errors yet. (Choose About This Mac under the Apple log on the menu bar to open System Profiler and click on Graphics/Displays to see the model of your video card.)
