GameRanger has been around for quite some time. It is a free Mac-only program that allows you to play games online. Without GameRanger, it would be difficult to meet other people who have the same game. And it would be someone that you personally know who is willing to play the game you have with Direct Connect (IP-address-connect). GameRanger offers a gathering place where you can meet other people who have the same game and start an online game.

GameRanger runs both on the Classic mode and OS X. At this moment, as of August 9 (2006), the latest version of GameRanger is 4.5.1 and has not been in Universal Binary. While the Universal version of GameRanger delays, the fact is that more and more people play PC games using BootCamp. So the future of Mac game industry is uncertain, and so is that of GameRanger.
