Maximizing Video Quality in YouTube

YouTube

So what do you need to know when you submit your video to YouTube? If you want to optimize the video quality, there are a couple of things you need to know.

  • 1. Compress video in MPEG-4-compliant algorithm such as DivX 5, DivX 6, H.264, Xvid and so forth.
  • 2. Use the aspect ratio of 4:3. Export video with 320 x 240 or 480 x 360 pixels in resolution.

If the aspect ratio of your video is not 4:3, then the quality will be severely impaired. We don’t know which resize filter YouTube uses, bilinear, bicubic or whatever. That’s their trade secret. But whatever YouTube uses, the resize video will look out of focus.

In fact, We have uploaded more than two dozen videos at YouTube. And they don’t look very good. But that’s actually what we want. There is a very good reason why we don’t offer good-quality videos at YouTube. Anyway, the purpose of our uploading videos at YouTube is not entertain viewers. Furthermore, it is true that we don’t have time enough to edit the resolution from 720 x 540 to 320 x 240 pixels. We have uploaded one video whose resolution is 320 x 240 pixels. Can you guess which?
