Pharmacy Spam Exploitation of Educational Institution Series: Michigan State University, Laboratory for Institutional Technology in Education

Here comes another pharmacy exploitation just a couple of hours after we reported the last pharmacy spam exploitation at a college website. The website being exploited this time is that of Michigan State University, Laboratory for Instructional Technology in Education or the LITE Lab. (lite.msu.edu) The Lite Lab has an independent domain separate from that of the University (www.msu.edu). Fortunately, the level of exploitation is minimal as the cyber idiot only posted coarse HTML threads with no hyperlinks.

And there is something in this premature HTML script, which we never noticed before. The pharmacy spammer uses META tags to increase search hits, which proves that the average IQ level of this pharmacy spam ring is much higher than what we had predicted (as low as those of crocodiles). We are surprised. It’s just like finding a totally unexpected life form in Venus.
