Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of World of Warcraft and Warcraft III, has announced that the company is currently developing a new game called StarCraft II. StarCraft… It is one of the first real-time strategy game. Since the PC version of Microsoft and Ensemble Studio’s Age of Empires was released on October 26, 1997 and StarCraft is perhaps the second old economic-based real-time strategy game (PC version released on April 1, 1998). In a sense, StarCraft is the space version of Age of Empires. In StarCraft, you collect resources, built factories and produce battle units just as in Age of Empires.
Unfortunately, Blizzard Entertainment hasn’t specified a release schedule. This new game is still being developed. And there is no mentioning of Mac release. Chances are that they will release Mac version at the same time they release PC version.
It’s been nearly four years since Blizzard Entertainment worked on a non-MMORPG game. The company produced a hit RTS series Warcraft III in 2002 and 2003. The PC version of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos was released on July 3, 2002. And the PC version of its sequel Frozen Throne on July 1, 2003.
