On a winter day, I was emotionally exhausted and felt like getting away from everything. After stopping by a restaurant at the end of a road, I continued to drive till I reached a beach. And I then got out of the car and walked on the beach for a few hours, searching for the answer for my life. I sat and watched the waves that kept coming back. Then I realized something odd. A sand drawing appeared out of nowhere. I looked around, again, but there was nobody else at a winter beach. I shouted “Who the hell is doing this?” And I took a very close look at the sand drawing. It said MacHouse.
The following tutorial shows steps to create a sand drawing on a beach, using Adobe Photoshop CS2. The beach photo used in this tutorial comes from PD Photo.
- Use Type Tool to write a word. Then apply Rasterize > Type to the type layer. Use Free Transform to adjust and distort the layer.
- Select only the filled part of the type layer under the Layer Palette. Apply some feather and then fill the selection with sheer black (#000000). You may now release the selection.
- Apply Noise > Add Noise to the type layer.
- You need some gray, so apply Motion Blur.
- Apply small amount of sand again this time to literally create the look of sand.
- Use Adjustments > Hue/Saturation to colorize the type layer.
- Next, add a layer style. Turn on Bevel and Emboss and also Texture.
