Hello.
I’m using Toast 10 with the HD plugin.
I have a few questions :
– What precise codec H264 or Mpeg2 (in 1080P resolution) should I use to avoid a long new compression buy Toast 10, including stereo sound.
– About the menus : I’m happy now to be able to read it with my home BD reader. But how to re-use the chapters made with FinalCut Pro ?
– Also about menus : is it possible to import HD menus from iDVD or DVD Studio Pro, even if they are made for HDDVD and not for BD disks ?
– Are there free free tutorials helping ?
Many thanks
Thierry Lafond
We don’t use Toast 10. So we can’t really answer any of the questions. As for export codec, that should depend on where you are going to use the final movie. As far as the export time is concerned, it probably won’t make a lot of difference whichever you use. I would most likely use H.264 over MPEG-2 because decoding MPEG-2 movies with QuickTime requires that you have MPEG Playback component.
If you are talking about our website, we don’t host free video tutorials.
Thank you for your answer. I use FCP and encode with compressor or Quicktime Compression from Final Cut.
Can you please tell me the maximum bitrates supported by Toast (H264, and mpeg2).
I’m sure it would be very helpful to get precise free tutorials made by Roxio and I’m ready to contribute in creating them. I Just need the right informations… and time !
Best regards

I have no clue. You have to ask Roxio about their product. I don’t know if there are such things called maximum (video) bit rates.
H.264 movies are said to perform well if the video bit rate is set to around 1,500 to 2,000 Kbps. Typical MPEG-2 movies have a video bit rate around 5,000 Kbps. Of course, these ideal bit rates depend on the video resolution.
I uploaded 100 images/videos to CineMagic and when I clicked to edit it further on videowave it only transfered over about 35 of the pictures. how can i have all 100 transfer to edit on Videowave?
