TOKYO (MacHouse) – REAL Software has released a new version of its cross-platform, object-oriented IDE software. According to the software developer, REALbasic 2009 Release 1 has ’27 new features and 100 improvements.’ The new version is compatible with Mac OS 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 for both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.

What is REALbasic? It’s an easy-to-learn programming language that is based on Basic. In many aspects, REALbasic is similar to Microsoft‘s VisualBasic. REALbasic allows users to create GUI software applications on different OS platforms including Mac OS X, Windows and Linux simultaneously without changing a single programming code. All you have to do is go to Project > Build Settings and choose the operating systems for which you want to build an application. (See the screenshot above.)
