Many Mac freeware and shareware titles have already been in Universal Binary. Some people think that major software companies are the quickest in releasing the Universal version. But that’s not actually true.
Intel Mac owners can use great assistance with the Universal version of Flash QuickTime component. It’s been reported that exporting in FLV through Rosetta creates a thin line in video. Adobe’s After Effects users would also greatly benefit from the Universal version as After Effects is quite CPU-intensive in exporting video. But Adobe has officially said that none of their Mac applications will be updated with a Universal version.
Just like Adobe, world’s largest software developer Microsoft also does not respond for Intel Mac users. In fact, Microsoft has already announced that their current version of Office and Virtual PC 7 will not be available in Universal Binary.
Snapz Pro X is a popular and one of the oldest screen capture title for the Mac OS. It’s widely used, but it still has a few serious bugs. Ambrosia, in fact, updated it to 2.0.3 back in August, 2006. But Snapz Pro X is not in Universal Binary yet as Ambrosia maintains that it runs fine with Intel Mac machines.
