Macworld January 2007 San Francisco Wrap-up

  • iTunes sales have reached 2 billion songs and 50 million TV shows. There are 250 movies available on iTunes store
  • iTV has changed its name to Apple TV, which wirelessly transmits music, video and photo contents to TV. iTV supports 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n. Apple TV has an Intel processor with 40 GB internal hard drive.
  • Apple puts iPod, moble phone and Internet connectivity into one, introducing iPhone. iPhone runs Mac OS X, and contents can be synchronized with iTunes. iPhone is 11.6 mm thin with 2 Megapixel camera in the back, speaker microphone and 30-pin iPod connector at the bottom. iPhone allows the user to send and receive e-mail messages and browse the Internet with the mobile version of Safari. iPhone’s network connectivity will be powered by Cingular Wireless. Apple will start shipping iPhone in June with 4 GB model for $499, 8 GB model for $599.
  • Apple Computer Inc. changes its corporate name to Apple Inc.
  • The musician who performs at the end of the show is John Mayer. He sings two songs (‘Gravity,’ ‘Waiting on the World to Change’) from his album ‘Continuum.’
