iOS software iPad Fotogenie

TOKYO (MacHouse) – The long-lasting freezing winter is pretty much over. Hopefully, we will be more productive in developing iOS applications as the temperature gradually rises. Meanwhile, it’s been more than ten days since we released the last pair of iPad applications. Finally, we are able to release another pair of iOS applications. One of the pair to introduce today is called Fotogenie.

Fotogenie is an iOS application that lets you use your iPad to create and view simple photo slide shows. It requires that you have access to a desktop computer with iTunes installed so that you can transfer photo files (JPEG, PNG) to the sandbox-protected folder assigned to this application. You can create any number of groups, picture portfolios, out of a list of pictures found in the application folder. If you already have one or more picture portfolios, simply select the one to browse in Step 3. You don’t have to include all pictures in a given picture portfolio. Just select ones that you want to include in your slide show. With the Auto pilot feature enabled, you can let the application automatically switch slide show pictures from one to another after a duration of your choice (5 to 60 seconds).

Features

  1. Create any number of picture groups (picture portfolios) as long as the disk space allows. Select a picture portfolio and then tap the pictures that you only want to include in a slide show.
  2. Add a description to each picture in a given picture portfolio.
  3. Select one of a dozen background colors for the slide show screen.
  4. Enable or disable Auto pilot. If it’s enabled, Fotogenie will automatically switch slide show pictures from one to another after a duration of your choice (5 to 60 seconds).
  5. The application comes with a partial built-in user’s guide (See Screen 1 > Help.) that is written in English.
  6. Language: English only
  7. Application file size: 5.9 MB

System requirements

  1. iOS 6.0 or higher
  2. iPad

Limitations

  1. Pictures with aspect ratios higher than 1.829 (horizontally long) can lose the original ratio and will be vertically stretched.
  2. The application supports the Landscape orientation (horizontal) only.
  3. The application only reads the following graphic formats: JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), PNG (.png).
  4. The user must have access to a desktop computer with iTunes (Apple’s multimedia application) installed in order to import pictures to the sandbox-protected folder that is assigned to this application. This folder is the only source of pictures that the application will access.

Version history

Note: Release dates are ones when updates are announced here, not when updates are actually released at App Store. We make no promise that they will be accepted by iTunes Connect and then released at App Store.

1.1.0 (Released on March 26, 2013)

  1. The aspect ratio of the preview images coincides with the maximum aspect ratio allowed (1.829).
  2. The user can now change the order of appearance of individual rows in a given picture portfolio. When the user switches to Screen 3, they’ll find a Reorder button on the bottom toolbar menu. Tap this button, and the drag symbol will appear to the right of each row.
  3. The application icon is redesigned.

Fotogenie is a product of MacHouse.
