Eltima Software’s SWF & FLV Player is a video player for Adobe Flash. You can play SWF files with Adobe Flash Player (free). And you can play FLV files with VideoLAN’s VLC Media Player. So why would you pay $20 to buy SWF & FLV Player PRO?
SWF & FLV Player has a few interesting features that Adobe Flash Player and VLC Media Player don’t have. One of those features lets you browse and save SWF files. Umm… But aren’t there free applications that let you download SWF and FLV files?
SWF & FLV Player PRO’s ‘Browse URL’ function is unique. You don’t have to know a specific URL to download an SWF file. In fact, you just need to know the URL for a webpage as a whole. For example, our website (www.mhvt.net) contains one SWF file. All you have to do is to enter this URL, and SWF & FLV Player PRO will search the page and look for downloadable SWF files.
SWF & FLV Player PRO’s other features include ‘Capture current frame’ and ‘Go to Frame.’ VLC Media Player lets you take screenshots. But unless they are self-contained ones, VLC Media Player doesn’t play SWF movies. On the other hand, SWF & FLV Player PRO supports both self-contained and reference SWF media files. So you may find SWF & FLV Player PRO useful in this respect. And, unlike QuickTime Player, Adobe Flash Player and VLC Media Player don’t let you play videos frame by frame with arrow keys. SWF & FLV Player PRO doesn’t, either. But you can jump to a specific frame.

Finally, there are a few features that we hope the software developer to fix.
- if you open or save an SWF file, you cannot go back to the browser screen. So you have to enter the same URL all over again to open/save a different file.
- It will be nice if one can also open and download SWF/FLV files at a remote server. For now, you can only open files on HD.
- It will be nice if one can forward and rewind frames with arrow keys.
SWF & FLV Player PRO is a product of Eltima Software.
