WWDC07: EA and id Software Games Coming to Macs

Today, Steve Jobs made several important announcements during WWDC07. Let me outline these announcements.





  1. iPhone to be in stores in June 29
  2. New Mac OS X OS Leopard with 300 new features to be released in October as scheduled

And there are a couple of important announcements for Mac games. For now, most Electronic Arts, Inc. games are introduced to the Mac platform through Austin-based company Aspyr Media. Steve Jobs has announced that, starting in July, 2007, EA and id Software will release Mac versions of their games on their own. EA will release the following 4 games in July. (PC release dates in parentheses)





  • Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (Mar 26, 2007)
  • Battlefield 2142 (Oct 17, 2006)
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (June 25, 2007)
  • Need for Speed Carbon (Oct 31, 2006)






    • Furthermore, EA will release the following sports titles in August. id Software will also release its latest game id Tech 5 in August.





  • Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (Unknown)
  • Madden NFL 08 (PC version to be released in August 22)
