This video tutorial briefly shows how to download YouTube video. We use Firefox to download video and then show how to play it with VLC. The versions of Firefox and VLC we use in this VTC are 1.5.0.7 and 0.8.5, respectively.

I downloaded Videodownloder and installed it. I also rebooted Firefox. The icon is located on the bottom right as you show. I then went to youtube and let the broswer dl the video, however when I attempt to use videodownloder I get the following error:
Download
[youtube.com] Error: Not a valid URL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuDEEkL9YMU). Visit our web to know in detail what video sites are supported.
[ close window ]
I also get the same message with Google Videos as well
I don’t know why, but it’s possible that you cannot download it if the video owner has set the embedding option to ‘not external sharing.’ Anyway, this tutorial is old. It was created before YouTube installed the external embedding function.
I don’t think this plug-in is functional now to the extent that it will no longer let you download YouTube and Google videos. Thank you for your pointing out the problem.
If you have a web browser called OmniWeb, it will still let you download YouTube videos (.flv). For instance, I was able to download the video you’ve mentioned. I was also able to download this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-vf1voQ9Bw).
Thank you, when I get the opportunity I will look up that program and try it.
