Apple Updating QuickTime and iTunes

Mac

Apple, Inc. has updated QuickTime to 7.2 and iTunes to 7.3.1, respectively. As for QuickTime, non-pro users are now able to have a fullscreen display. And, according to Apple, numerous bugs have been fixed with this release. If you are using Mac OS X, you can update your QuickTime and iTunes from the desktop menu. Simply, select ‘Software Update’ under Apple symbol on the leftmost corner of the menu bar.

One of the significant bug fixes is the question mark problem for videos of long durations. If you are using QuickTime 7.1.5 or 7.1.6, your QuickTime may not download the video stream whose video duration is 9 minutes or longer. It appears that this bug has been fixed with QuickTime 7.2. If you still see a white question mark with an update, you need to reload the page several times.

It is unconfirmed, but it also appears that Apple has fixed the gamma shift issue with H.264 to some extent. QuickTime’s H.264 compressor is known to export videos by changing brightness and/or saturations of colors in all channels.
