When I came back home yesterday, I immediately sensed there was something wrong. So I called out my wife’s name. I went to the garage and bedroom. But I didn’t see a sign of her presence. Then I went to the living room to call 911. And I saw a great deal of blood on the flood coming from the kitchen. I was so scared. Then… “Honey, you are home so early. What’s wrong? Is something wrong?” It was my wife. Gosh, I thought I lost her. But, wait, where does this blood come from? She said that she was playing with my iMac and created this scene of bloody floor with Adobe Photoshop. Never let your wife alone with Photoshop. That’s the lesson I learned.

The following tutorial shows easy steps to design a scene of a bloody floor, using Adobe Photoshop CS2. The photo image used in this tutorial comes from Webshots.

1. Create a new layer.
2. Make a selection of blood with Quick Mask.
3. If you want, apply a small amount of Feather.
4. Fill the selection with sheer black.
5. Make sure the foreground color is black and background color white. Then apply to the selection Render > Fibers. Lower Strength to the minimum.
6. Next, apply to the same layer Sketch > Plaster.
7. We want to colorize the layer. But before doing so, use Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast and lower contrast.
8. Finally, use Hue/Saturation and colorize the layer.
