TOKYO (MacHouse) – Microsoft Corporation has released information on the next version of Microsoft Office for Mac. The company will offer three different editions of Microsoft Office 2008. Microsoft Office 2008 is scheduled for release in January, 2008. It will run on both PowerPC (G4 or G5) Macs and Intel Macs.
A standard edition is simply called Office 2008 for Mac, which contains Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage, Microsoft Server Exchange Support and Automator Actions for Workflows in Microsoft Office. An academic edition is called Office 2008 for Mac Home & Student Edition. This version contains Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Entourage. There will be another version called Office 2008 for Mac Special Media Edition. It contains all the components that Office 2008 for Mac has plus Microsoft Expression Media. Microsoft Expression Media was formerly called iView Media (catalog software similar to Kudo) before Microsoft purchased iView Multimedia Ltd.
