Adobe Photoshop Very Simple Tutorial: Bathroom Tiles

Adobe Photoshop

Last week, my wife and I had a little household dispute. As a result, she took her dog and went back to her home town in Kansas. I was totally upset, staying in an empty house by myself. I decided to work on one of the bathrooms, replacing floor tiles. Hopefully, she will realize how reliable I am as the home improvement guy of the household. I started out okay, but I gradually got tired. I started to think that there was perhaps an easier way of replacing bathroom tiles. Hmm… Oh, yes, Adobe Photoshop! So I went to my work room, starting up my iMac and launching Photoshop CS2. In a matter of 3 minutes or so, I replaced floor tiles in the bathroom.

It’s been several days since she left. So the question is when is she coming back? Or is she ever coming back?

Adobe Photoshop Very Simple Tutorial: Spider Web

Adobe Photoshop

Our clients aren’t all humans. Occasionally, we get a design job from a space alien or even from an insect. For example, when I answered the door the other day, it was a spider. He showed me a photo and asked me to create a spider web so that he could impress his female counterpart. Anyway, I took a job with no reward because I was bored. So, as usual, I launched Adobe Photoshop on my iMac. And, in a matter of 6 minutes or so, I created a spider web for him.

Adobe Photoshop Very Simple Tutorial: Stained Glass

Adobe Photoshop

Several weeks ago, we received a letter from a Roman catholic church in Italy. When I opened it, there was a round trip airplane ticket and a short note that said

“Urgent. Please come help us.”

So I flew to Italy. As soon as I arrived, an old man in a robe ushered me inside their church. Then he said that they urgently needed to have stained glass on two windows. As I often say to others, I told him that I just do Photoshop stuff on Mac computers. Then he crossed his arms, shutting his eyes, and stood still. I tried to talk to him, but he didn’t move an inch. I also tried to leave, but the front doors suddenly closed themselves. I said to myself “All right, fine!” I approached the window side and sat down. Then I pulled MacBook out of my backpack. In a matter of 5 minutes or less, I designed simple stained glass and embedded it in the windows in which they wanted it. And as soon as I completed the assignment, the front doors suddenly opened. Then I turned around. And the man was gone. Only his robe was there with five one hundred dollar bills on it and a note that said “Thank you.”

The following tutorial shows steps to design stained glass, using Adobe Photoshop CS2. You could simply use a combination of Noise and Stained Glass to design stained glass. Rather, we want to tackle this assignment in a different approach for a better result. In the meantime, the photo image used in this tutorial comes from Webshots. Continue reading

Adobe Photoshop Very Simple Tutorial: Changing Seasons from Summer to Fall

Adobe Photoshop

My wife’s favorite season is fall. So is mine. Last November, we went to New Hampshire to see beautiful, fall-colored trees and leaves. Our airplane was only 30 minutes away from Manchester International Airport. Then my wife, who was sitting at the window side, became gradually upset. She said that trees and their leaves were all yellow or green. Then I looked out of the window. She was right. My wife became so upset that she tried to open one of the exit doors and jump off the airplane. It took three flight attendants to stop her. And I was forced to take an immediate action to calm her down. But do what!? Ahh… Photoshop! So I pulled MacBook out of my bag, turned the power on and launched Adobe Photoshop CS2. In a matter of 8 minutes or less, the season changed from summer to fall. Once being upset, my wife calmed down and smiled again. Whew! I thought we were both busted by air marshals.

Adobe Photoshop Very Simple Tutorial: Designing an Interior Door

Adobe Photoshop

My wife’s dog scratches a particular door when he gets excited. So my wife and I went to Homer Depot to buy a new interior door several days ago. For me, something wasn’t right. I didn’t scratch the door. And it’s her dog. So why do I have to pay for it? I went crazy when I saw those outrageous prices. One interior door for 300 bucks? I told her that I was not going to pay $300 for the damage her dog made. Then I saw her angry face with hot steam around it. Maybe, I should have said it more nicely. We didn’t talk to each other for the next two days. Finally, I got an idea. I thought I could just design an interior door for myself. But how? Ahh, Adobe Photoshop! So I got on my iMac and launched Adobe Photoshop CS2. In less than 7 minutes, I designed a simple interior door. Then I just told her that I came back from Homer Depot with this door. And she gave me a big hug. That night…, you know?
