Mac Game: Urban Terror Game Play Video – Austria (Capture the Flag)

Urban Terror Mac 4.1

This is a game play video that was recorded for multiplayer-only game Urban Terror, which we introduced several days ago. It’s available for free for Linux, Mac and Windows OS.

The person playing this game is Donkey’s Butt. During the game play, he doesn’t play well because

1. he is not good at it
2. recording video had a heavy burden on the CPU
3. he played on a small screen (800×600) merely for the purpose of recording the game play

Donkey’s Butt played the game at a server hosted by Death Valley 4.1 CTF February M on February 9, 2007 (US PST). Continue reading →

Mac Game Review: Urban Terror

Urban Terror Mac 4.1

A few days ago, an online friend of mine asked me to try out a game called Urban Terror. He said it’s a great first-person shooter (FPS) game. I told him that I was once addicted to the multiplayer mode of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (Electronic Arts/Aspyr Media). He then said that I should enjoy it. He actually mentioned this game about a month before. If it’s that great, how come I never heard of it before? Anyway, I decided to give it a try. The title of the game doesn’t sound like a first-person shooter game, but it actually is.

There are a couple of aspects against which you want to consider trying out Urban Terror if you like FPS games. Firstly, it’s a free multiplayer game made available by Silicon Ice Development/FrozenSand, LLC. Secondly, this game is available for three operating systems: Linux, Mac and Windows.

As for the Mac version of Urban Terror, the game application is in Universal Binary. If you want to play it, first, you need to download the zip file, whose file size is 719.4 MB. If you have finished decompressing it, then you are ready to play the game. By the way, just like in other multiplayer games, you may have to turn off network traffic utility programs (for example, Little Snitch) so that your terminal is allowed to access a server outside your network. Video Tutorial: Finding the Web Host

anti spam

Several days ago, we reported a fake online shoe store called Prestige Footwear, which involves more than a dozen domains. Most of them are now dead. Where is it hosted? Our investigations revealed that some of the websites are/were hosted in China. Others are/were hosted at a possibly hacked website.

This tutorial is a video demonstration of the steps we took to find the web hosting companies involved with the fake online shoe store. Those steps are described in our report of January 27 concerning Prestige Footwear. This video tutorial is open to users of any operating system as long as they have access to Internet and a web browser. Continue reading →

Introduction to VisualWare’s VisualRoute (MAC): Finding the Hosts of FOOTBALLYEARS.NET And HEIGHTGROWTHSHOES.COM

VisualRoute 2008 Business Apple Network Utilites

MacHouse is a big advocate of taking a tough action against those sponsor websites where they hire career spammers to post spam comments to increase traffic, which we call spam vandalism. A simple measure to take is to find the host of such sponsor website. If you can find it, then you can file a complaint and have the website shut down. In fact, a career spammer did some damage on our own SMF website around January 21. In this particular case, the sponsors are footballyears.net and heightgrowthshoes.com.

Of course, there is no guarantee that the web hosting company will comply with your request. But what? Would you rather sit back and play defense whenever the same career spammer comes back to cause trouble? Continue reading →
