Dead Space is Electronic Arts‘ latest third-person/action game. It was released in October 20. The game was developed by EA Redwood Shores.

In this game, you will play the character of Isaac Clarke. He is an engineering and ship systems specialist. Unlike others, he wears a special suit with a light blue heath meter at the back. It’s no question that’s a unique suit that you will never see in other games.

Deep space mining is a lucrative business, they say in the game. The USG Ishimura (Ishimura is a Japanese last name meaning ‘stone village’) is a mining vessel, which has gone missing in the Aegis System. There is no communications transmission from the vessel.

Dispatched to the Aegis System is a maintenance team aboard USG Kellion including Isaac Clarke, Kendra Daniels (computer specialist), Zach Hammond (the chief security officer) and others. Their mission is to locate USG Ishimura and find out the cause of communications blackout. As they explore the vessel, it’s empty, and there is no vital sign of life.  Continue reading

As we reported the other day, possibly one of the most promising PC games in 2008 Fallout 3 from Bethesda Softworks debuted three days ago.

More than two years ago, Bethesda Softworks released a hit role playing game called The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It never made it to Macs. And we don’t know it will ever although an unofficial, hacked version of the PC game with TransGaming‘s Cider Technology seems to go around among Intel Mac users.

The latest release from Bethesda Softworks is also a role playing game with an unique scenario setup. Survivors of a nuclear war are locked up behind a facility called Vault 101. That’s where the character that you are playing will spend his or her first 19 years without knowing what it’s like being outside. The leader of the facility is The Overseer, an old African-American man who prohibits anyone from going outside. But one particular member is forced to take risks and leave the facility. Why? Well, sorry… You will find out why when you play the game. Anyway, the story is a bit different. But it should remind you of that of 2005 movie The Island.

This QuickTime video shows the first 40 minutes of a game play movie of Fallout 3 with no interruption. The movie will start at the scene where the character that you are playing is born and you will get to choose the gender and then name and other character elements.  Continue reading

Playing FarCry 2 with Boot Camp – FarCry 2 Game Play Video

Playing FarCry 2 on Mac Boot Camp Mac

FarCry 2 is a sequel to the successful 2004 action/adventure game developed and published by Cryteck and Ubisoft, respectively. FarCry 2 debuted in North America in October 23. It’s a stand-alone game. So you don’t need the original game to play FarCry 2.

There is no ‘Jack’ in this sequel. Instead, you have 9 characters such as Marty Alencar, Warren Clyde, Josip Idromeno, Paul Ferenc, Quarbani Singh, Andre Hyppolite, Hakim Echebbi, Frank Bilders and Xianyong Bai to choose from. And depending on which character to play, the game story and map and available weapons will be a little bit different. You will choose one character from the list. But that doesn’t mean at all that this is a role-playing game.

This QuickTime video shows the first 26 minutes of a game play movie of FarCry 2 with no interruption. After a character is chosen, a long cinematic scene will continue for the next 6 minutes and 30 seconds.  Continue reading
