Mac Game Review: Urban Terror

Urban Terror Mac 4.1

A few days ago, an online friend of mine asked me to try out a game called Urban Terror. He said it’s a great first-person shooter (FPS) game. I told him that I was once addicted to the multiplayer mode of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (Electronic Arts/Aspyr Media). He then said that I should enjoy it. He actually mentioned this game about a month before. If it’s that great, how come I never heard of it before? Anyway, I decided to give it a try. The title of the game doesn’t sound like a first-person shooter game, but it actually is.

There are a couple of aspects against which you want to consider trying out Urban Terror if you like FPS games. Firstly, it’s a free multiplayer game made available by Silicon Ice Development/FrozenSand, LLC. Secondly, this game is available for three operating systems: Linux, Mac and Windows.

As for the Mac version of Urban Terror, the game application is in Universal Binary. If you want to play it, first, you need to download the zip file, whose file size is 719.4 MB. If you have finished decompressing it, then you are ready to play the game. By the way, just like in other multiplayer games, you may have to turn off network traffic utility programs (for example, Little Snitch) so that your terminal is allowed to access a server outside your network. Mac Game Review: Sunset Studio Deluxe

Sunset Studio Deluxe

When I get bored, I tend to kill time by playing games these days. I mean to quit playing games, but… Oh, well… This time, I played Sunset Studio Deluxe. We wrote a review on “Little Shop of Treasures 2” at the end of last November. And Sunset Studio Deluxe is pretty much similar to this game. It’s a downloadable game published by GameHouse, a a division of RealNetworks, Inc and is available for both Mac and PC users. Continue reading

Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs Campaign Walkthroughs

Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs for Mac

Personally, the real-time strategy (RTS) game is my (Tom Bluewater’s) favorite genre of computer games. When I first played Age of Empires around 1999, I thought “Whoa!” I didn’t finish the very last campaign. A couple of years later, I purchased Age of Empires II and its expansion pack Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion for PC at Wal-Mart and tried to play these games with Virtual PC 4. Oh, well… Virtual PC couldn’t run the games. So I bought a used PC to play these games.

Anyway, I completed all the campaigns of Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs several days ago. You can apply the same tips to the Age of Empires and Age of Mythology series. The most important tip is probably hunting wild animals to gather food instead of picking berries or farming. Another important tip… Use hot keys to find buildings.

For those who need help in finishing Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs campaigns, we wrote extensive campaign walkthroughs with a lot of screenshots. So just watch it away…
