Apple Releasing Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update

Mac

TOKYO (MacHouse) – Apple, Inc. has released a software update only for Snow Leopard users. It’s been released on the same day when the company is scheduled to launch its online application store, which suggests that this software update has to do with App Store. In the meantime, there is no software update available to Leopard users. That means the door is not open to Mac users who run an OS version lower than 10.6 and/or have PowerPC-based Macs. That suggests that Apple wants to give a push for the sale of OS X 10.6 discs.

By the way, MacHouse will not join the party at App Store. The reoccurring annual fee of $99 is not the only problem. We don’t know exactly who is reviewing software submissions. We fear that it’s the same group of people behind Mac OS X Downloads Submission. We have no doubts that Chinese vendors who sell counterfeit products at App Store for iPhone and iPad will be there on our behalf.

What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse Introducing MacReady (Ready2Work)

Mac software MacReady

TOKYO (MacHouse) – We didn’t release any products during the first half of this month. We then released two Mac software titles last week. Actually, a third software title is ready for release. It’s called MacReady. It may also be called Ready2Work at Mac App Store.

MacReady lets you perform a series of tasks so that your Mac can get ready to work. Emptying Trash, opening this folder and that folder, launching this application and that application… If you add it to the Login items list (System Preferences > Accounts), MacReady can automatically perform dozens of simple tasks soon after your Mac starts up. Make sure you enable Auto run, opening Preferences.

Changing the labels of this folder and that file, accessing this website and that website with your default web browser… MacReady can do all the dirty work on your behalf in no time.

What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse Releasing VersionsX

Mac software VersionsX

TOKYO (MacHouse) – Whenever we submit a software update to Download.com, MacUpdate, Softpedia or whatever, we try to make sure that the file path is correct. As for Download.com, they will give you an automated message saying that the software file you’ve specified cannot be found if it’s invalid. MacUpdate won’t, and they will simply trash your software submission. We try to make sure that every software submission we make has a valid URL. But we do make a mistake from time to time in this regard.

VersionsX is a new Mac application that is designed to let software developers document software version history. If you use VersionsX, the probability that you will give them an invalid file path should be reduced dramatically because it will check and see if the given URL is valid for every 1.5 seconds in real time.

VersionX is currently available as a freeware title because it’s still in beta. It’s a beta version, so it won’t come with a user’s guide.

What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse to Introduce Switchies

Mac software Switchies

TOKYO (MacHouse) – It’s a software title we’ve developed ourselves, but we love CopyReady. Hopefully, you will try it out. Or some people probably find Stickies more useful.

Yes, we like Stickies, too. Unfortunately, Stickies won’t allow you to have different categories of windows. If that’s a wish that hasn’t come true, try out Switchies.
