TOKYO (MacHouse) – It’s been less than 30 hours since we released the first Mac freeware title of this year. And another one is already available. It’s called d-d Zone.

d-d Zone will let you quickly relocate files and folders. Simply, choose a destination folder from the drop-menu. Then drag and drop a file or a folder to relocate while the window is blinking in green.

TOKYO (MacHouse) – It’s been more than 10 years since I taught a college statistics course last time. A new Mac software title we have just released surely reminds me of those days. This freeware title is called K-Roster.

TOKYO (MacHouse) – It’s has been more than 2 weeks since we released a new Mac software title last time. That’s a bit unusual as we release a new software title every 1 week or so. Well, the first software title of this year has already been released, though. It’s called Switchies For Mail.

Remember Switchies (Switchies For Stickies)? We introduced this application about 4 weeks ago. It’s now 4th most popular software title of ours. Switchies allows the user to create and maintain different sets of Stickies windows. Switchies For Mail is pretty much similar. It allows the user to create different mail accounts over Apple’s Mail. You can switch from one set of mail accounts to another with just a click of Mouse, using Switchies For Mail. We’ve developed this application for a good reason. We subscribe to one of the Apple mail support groups. And every time somebody posts a question or a reply, we are false-alarmed that we’ve received a payment receipt from PayPal. We can really use Switchies For Mail so that we can switch to a different set of mail accounts over (Apple) Mail only when we wanted to read non-urgent messages.

ここ1年に新しいMacを購入した人の中には、きっと最近のアップル社製の標準マウスあるいはキーボード（又は両方？）に満足していない人がいるでしょう。このブログでも何度か取り上げている話題ですが、アップル社製のアルミニウム・キーボード「Apple Wireless keyboard」の問題点を簡単に挙げると、

  • テンキーがない
  • Delete、Home, End、Page up、Page down キーがない
  • Bluetoothが原因で電池の消費が早い

    • などとなります。3番目の電池の消費は何の話かというと、Macã‚’2台以上使っている場合、Bluetoothを通して電力の消費が高まることです。ちなみに自分のMagic Mouseにいれた新品の電池は2週間しか持ちませんでした。キーボードの電池は2ヶ月でなくなりました。

    アップル社製ワイヤレス・キーボードが使えないなら、じゃあ他に代わるキーボードがあるのか、と考えると、マック・ユーザーにはあまり選択の余地がありませんね。もちろんアップル社から直接テンキー付きキーボードを購入するという手段はあります。また以前紹介したサンワサプライのMac用キーボード（SKB-MAC1）もかなり手頃な値段で手に入れることができます。他にエレコムからもマックで使えるワイヤレス・キーボードがありみたいです。

    さて話題をちょっと変え、前回のマウスパッド紹介の記事にもある通り、先日近くのヤマダ電機に行ってきました。主な目的はマウスパッドを自分の目で選んで買うことでした。ちょっと左隣りのコーナーに目をそらすと色々なキーボードが並んでいました。好奇心にかられ、PC用のキーボーをちょっと見てみようと思いました。その時に目に入ったのが、何とMac OSのシンボルです。（写真1参照）たったの1,480円？キーの配列を確認した後、このマックでも使えるPC用キーボードを買いました。そう、今回紹介するのはロジクールのClassic Keyboard 200で、製品番号はiK-21WHです。ちなみに、接続はUSB経由です。   Continue reading →

    マックで使える製品の紹介：ミヨシ GZ-400（マウスパッド）

    マウスパッドの紹介第三弾です。そもそもマウスパッドをオンラインショップで購入しようとしたことが間違いでした。実は、新しいレーザー式マウスのためにマウスパッドを買おうと思ったら、間違って光学式マウス用のものを購入してしまいました。次にまたインターネットで買ったのがロアスの製品で、これまた大失敗。そこで今度は近くのヤマダ電機に自ら赴き、そこで買ったのがエレコムのマウスパッドと今回紹介の株式会社ミヨシのマウスパッドで、製品番号はGZ-400です。この400は何を意味するのかな〜？製品の表示を見ると製品番号のあとに「¥400」とあります。（写真1参照）まさか400がこの400円を意味してたりしちゃって。ちょっと笑っちゃいます。

    エレコムのマウスパッドを紹介した時にも書いたように、マウスパッドを使ってみようと思った動機は簡単に以下の通りです。マウスの動き（Tracking Speed）を最大にすると逆に細かい作業に支障をきたします。マウスポインターを1ピクセルごとに正確に動かすのが難しくなります。そこで、マウスパッドを使えばマウスポインターの動きが安定すると思った次第です。ただ最近のマウスの性能は良いので、果たしてマウスパッドを使ってデスクトップ作業の効率があがるかどうか。   Continue reading →
