But that doesn’t mean that this freeware title should be replaced by MacTheRipper or Handbrake. In fact, there are still many Mac users who use this freeware to rip DVDs. There are many freeware and shareware titles for editing graphics. And t here are several well-known commercial applications for editing graphics like Canvas by ACD Systems, Corel Painter by Corel Corporation and Photoshop by Adobe Systems. Adobe Fireworks is just one of them, which I personally started using when I was a graduate student and purchased the academic version of Macromedia Suite 3 some seven years ago. Video Compression with 3ivx

3ivx

3ivx is an MPEG-4-based video compression algorithm that is developed by 3ivx Technologies. Since 3ivx is not a stand-alone application, it requires an application that allows you to access codecs. For Mac users, it can be used with QuickTime Pro, MPEG Streamclip, Roxio Toast Titanium 7 and so forth. Windows users can freeware titles like VisualDub to access 3ivx codec. Though it is not widely used compared with DivX and XviD, some people use it to compress movies. Conveniently, 3ivx offers a free version of its video codec for Mac and Windows. Continue reading
