BeLight Software Ltd. has released a public beta version of its interior design software, Live Interior 3D. It is currently available for free download. The file size is 187 MB, and the program runs on both PPC and Intel Mac machines, according to the developer.

Boris FX, Inc has released a Universal Binary version of Boris RED 4, a motion filter plug-in. The price tag is $995. Boris RED 4 users can download a free upgrade.

French Security Incident Response Team (FrSIRT) has issued a security alert report, which shows that there are several critical vulnerabilities to be fixed for free, open-source, cross-platform office software, OpenOffice.org.

Adobe Systems Incorporated appears to release a beta version of Fireworks 9 soon. The current version of Fireworks is 8, and a new release will be in Universal Binary for Macs. The beta release of Fireworks 9 is already available at some torrent sites.

VideoLAN has released an updated version (0.8.6a) of its popular video player. There are two lines of fixes. One fix is made for Mac and Windows over a format string security vulnerability as has been pointed out by MOAB. Another fix, according to VideoLAN, is improvement over ‘the “Fullscreen Controller on Mac OS X.”
