Dealing with M2T (HDV) for Macs

What is HDV? It is the video format that was developed by Japanese electronics makers such as JVC and Sony. JVC first introduced an HDV camcorder that supported both standard DV (480i) and HDV (720p30). Sony’s camcorder supports HDV 1080 interlaced format. The file extension used for HDV is .m2t. And its video compression is based on MPEG-2. So the average bitrates are about 25 Mbit/s for 1080i and 19.7 Mbit/s for 720p, respectively. Furthermore, the audio compression is MPEG-1 Layer II (MP2) with a bitrate of 192 kbit/s per channel. Continue reading

Is YouTube Out of Hand?

Several days ago, it was reported that YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley suggested that their video sharers may be paid. YouTube is now supported by a large group of video sharers who post video clips from TV shows and fringe on the copyright law. For example, this video is apparently a copyrighted material. For the last several days, we have spent some good time notifying YouTube which video is in violation of the copyright law. Unfortunately, YouTube seems to have taken down any of them. Some people do download our video tutorials posted at YouTube and post them at their websites without citing the ownership. YouTube will be inevitably flooded with more copyrighted materials once they start paying these violators. Continue reading

Unreal Tournament 3 Whether Coming to Macs or Not…

Changing its name from Unreal Tournament 2007, a sequel of a popular action game from Midway (publisher) and Epic Games (developer) is scheduled for release this year. The game will be available for PCs, PS3 and X360. Whether or not it will be ported to Macs, it’s something that we should look forward to playing in the near future. It looks quite exiciting.
