TOKYO (MacHouse) – Apple, Inc. was scheduled to enforece Desktop Police Act last November. It was then postponed till this March. Today, the company has officially announced that they are going to postpone the sandboxing requirement till this Jone. That is, all software submissions to Apple’s Mac App Store be sandboxed after June 1st. Today’s e-mail letter from Mac Developer Program says
We have extended the deadline for sandboxing your apps on the Mac App Store from March 1st to June 1st to provide you with enough time to take advantage of new sandboxing entitlements available in OS X 10.7.3 and new APIs in Xcode 4.3.
Apple’s move in extending the deadline again is not surprising. Mac Developer Program has created a dedicated forum just for those who have trouble sandboxing their applications. And it’s been flooded with questions and worries. We won’t go in details since the contents of this forum are sealed with Apple’s Nondisclosure Agreement.
What’s Coming Up Next? – MacHouse Introducing IPSmith

TOKYO (MacHouse) – It’s been just several days since we had the last triple releases. And we’ve just released the sixth Windows software title. It’s called IPSmith.

If you are a web administrator, you may be forced to ban some IP addresses. Some people make a death threat if they don’t get what they want. Some people with a malacious intention may open a support ticket to upload an obviously suspicious attachment. Or take BrotherSoft as an example. What they have done!? (See Screenshot 1.) They’ve written to our undisclosed, confidential e-mail address that e-mail harvesters have possibly collected by hackinng other web sites. After blocking a specific IP address, you may wonder one year from now why you were forced to block that IP address?
IPSmith is a simple desktop application that lets you keep records of known IP addresses. When you enter an IP address and press the Lookup button, IPSmith can find the country and the country codes of the corresponding IP address. And you can give a description to each IP address you record.
This software title is currently distributed as a freeware title as it’s still in beta. You can use it without limitations till May 1, 2012. It’s been tested for Windows 7 64-bit.

TOKYO (MacHouse) – We’ve just introduced two Windows applications so far today. One is DeepSee. The other one is UltraMarks. The third one to introduce is called Img2Paste.
UltraMarks is a batch-watermarking application that is text-based. In contrast, Img2Paste is object-based. So you use an existing picture file to watermark any number of (background) images. To start with, click on the + button at the bottom left corner of the main window to add a picture to the sidebar. Also, choose Image > Open Background Image or use the file drop box to import background images. Now, make sure that you have selected one picture on the sidebar. Then just click on any of the background images at the bottom and paste the selected picture on it. You can position the selected picture individually for each background image. And open the Mini window, if necessary, to see a resized composite image.
This software title is currently distributed as a freeware title as it’s still in beta. You can use it without limitations till May 1, 2012. It’s been tested for Windows 7 64-bit.

TOKYO (MacHouse) – So we have three Windows applications to release today. The second one to introduce is called UltraMarks.
UltraMarks is a batch-watermarking application. It’s text-based, not object-based. So you can type up watermark text in real time. What’s so special about UltraMarks? Well, not much… But it lets you watermark any number of images. Plus, you can have shadow text.
Unfortunately, the initial release won’t allow the user to position watermark text uniquely for each image. A software update will eliminate this issue, though.
This software title is currently distributed as a freeware title as it’s still in beta. You can use it without limitations till May 1, 2012. It’s been tested for Windows 7 64-bit.

DeepSee is a simple color picker and will return the color of the pixel you select in terms of HTML (hexadecimal value), RGB and HSV (or HSB). Simply, choose File > Open to open a file. Then move the magnify marker to set the target area. Finally, click on the + button to zoom in the picture. Now, you can click on any spot on the Magnifier window to return color values. Well, as you see in Screenshot 2, Ms. Rice’s teeth aren’t really white after all.
